3 months to go
We have almost 3 months exactly left until baby #2 makes her arrival. I am starting to freak out a bit about how little we have done so far. Anyone that knows me know that I like to be prepared and organized way ahead of time. I have ordered the bedding. But we still need to order furniture and paint and wash all of Shelby's old cloths. And there are still a few things I need to buy.
I have been thinkinga lot lately about how Shelby will react to this "change" in her life. Her whole world will be turned around in the matter of one day. She won't be nearly as prepared as we will be because obviously she is too little to fully understand. She has already claimed this baby as HER SISSY. She knows there is a baby and that it is a girl and we talk a lot about it and how she will help take care of her and do her hair one day and that they will play together and share things. Of course right now she happily agrees. However, I grew up with a sister and know somewhat of what to expect! Although my girls will be closer in age by 2 years, than what me and my sister are. I know that the transition will be hard on Shelby, probably no matter how much attention and one on one time we try and give her. I am trying to prepare myself for the attention seeking to come out in the worst ways. I just pray I have the patience to handle it! I am working on it.
I am also trying to prepare myself for the transition of becoming a parent to TWO kids instead of one and how crazy that will undoubtedly be from time to time. I know that Shelby will love being a big sister and that she will love the baby, but her feelings towards us, I have a feeling will be different. I will be having a c-section again and that will limit my activities and abilities for a couple of weeks. This is what worries me. I won't be able to get down on the floor with her, I won't be able to pick her up, etc...I am not even sure how I am going to give her a bath but we will figure it all out, I am sure with a few grey hairs in the end!

New Face
Shelby recently started making this face. Usually she makes this face when she doesn't want to do something we have asked her to do. Now she will do it on command and of course everyone laughs at her and then she thinks it is hilarious too. SHe is such a clown!

Then of course after everybody laughs, she does too!

Easter
We had a great Easter this past Sunday. Very busy but fun. We started the morning off with the Easter Bunny thing at home, then church, then to MawMaw and PawPaw's where they hid eggs for Shelby outside and had a basket for her, then to my families for dinner and another egg hunt and the home where we were all wiped out! Then Grammy brought over her easter basket Monday night. Shelby really got into the whole egg hunt and Easter bunny thing. She loved it.

It's a GIRL!
We found out last Friday that the baby is a GIRL! I guess we will save a lot of money on cloths now! Everything else was perfect and she measured a week ahead! They said she will probably just be a little bigger. Shelby was 8lbs 3oz. The ultrasound pictures were really clear and she was all stretched out in there, legs stretched all the way out and she stretched her arms up above her head a few times. They zoomed in on her face and you could see her mouth opening and closing which was really cool and you see that she was flexing her fingers open and closed.
#1, the butt is over on the right hand side and the legs are stretched out horizontally, this is looking from behind
#2, looking right at the face!
#1, profile of a leg, you can see it all stretched out and the bones and there is the foot on the right hand side

3 years old!
I am a little late on this one. Shelby is now 3 years old! We had an elmo birthday party on March 1st to celebrate. We had lot of family and friends and Shelby of course got lots of cool presents.
It really is true that times flies when you have kids. I can't believe she is already 3 years old. I will NEVER forget the day I went into labor with her. I woke up on Wednesday, March 1st to get ready to work and realized I was having some pains. I thought I was just having "colon issues" and went about my morning. I quickly realized it was labor. So I stayed home from work and laid on the couch and timed them. After 20+ hours of labor, an hour and a half of pushing and an emergency c-section, she was born on March 2nd at 3:27am, perfect as can be, 8lbs 3oz and 19" long. My doctor and us couldn't believe how big she was. Just the week before my doctor had told me that she would be about 7lbs probably and that she is rarely off. She was off, by about a pound! Shelby was the best baby we could have ever asked for. she has been independent since the day she was born.
We had her 3 year checkup a couple of weeks ago and she was 38lbs and 38.5" tall! Her speech is coming along, still a lot of babble but she is def. saying a lot more or trying too. She likes to do everything by herself, or at least attempt. She is a total mommy's girl and only wants mommy to do everything for her and has a meltdown if ANYONE tries to do anything for her if I am there. Including, putting her shoes or jacket on, getting her in or out of the car, etc...She will scream MOMMY if anyone else makes an attempt! Get rather annoying sometimes but I am told this is totally normal for her age.
We had parent/teacher conferences at her daycare recently. They said that they never have any problems with her and she has really started coming aroudn there and is really happy. SHe knows all of her colors and shapes and they work with them on the alaphabet and other learning things.
In other Oakley news, we have our big ultra sound on Friday to find out what we are having. Shelby can't decide if she wants a brother or a sissy! Sometimes she will tell you she wants 2 brothers! lol I don't think she understands just how much her life is going to change. But that is ok and I know she will be fine. SHe is totally in love with babies right now, the real kind! Everytime we see a baby out in public or at church she is infatuated and has to bring it to our attention that there is a baby and wants to go and look at it.
